Things I Thought Were Cool This Week – 6/11/2023 Edition
I’m going to try a new thing. I want to start sharing cool things I find throughout the week, and I’ll drop them in a blog post on Sundays. Since I came up with this idea today, the first edition here might be a little weak but over time I hope to come up with a collection of cool stuff.
Diablo IV
Yeah so I’m obviously leading with something a lot of people are finding cool. I’ve never played a Diablo game so I dipped my toe in and I like it. Destiny 2 remains my favorite game but I often find myself wanting to play something different, that isn’t a shooter, and isn’t a sports game. I think Diablo fills that space for me.
Ezra Klein and Professor Jean Twenge
I don’t listen to the Ezra Klein show consistently. Perhaps once a month I look through the feed for guests that I think are interesting and I listen to those shows. In May he had on Professor Jean Twenge who has written a couple of books (iGen and Generations) on how the internet and social media relate to mental health. They did 2 episodes and I only finished the first, but I am finding it interesting. I think sometimes we lose the fact that the internet, and internet communities do not equal social media. You can find community online without scrolling through influencers.
You can checkout the transcript and the episodes here.
Destiny 2 Weekly Reset App
For a long time I’ve wanted to make an app that shows the weekly reset content for Destiny 2. I’ve sort of built it into my dashboard but it’s buggy and I think I’d prefer it as it’s own standalone piece. So I started building that out this week. So far, I have the Nightfall. But If I can get the following items on it, I’d be happy.
- Nightfall
- Modifiers
- Weekly Raid
- Weekly Dungeon
- Weekly Crucible Rotator
I’d like to fancy it up a bit with some CSS but just getting the basics would accomplish the goal. I’ll share the code on GitHub as I get closer to the “end” of the project.
Those were the 3 things that came to mind. Again, over time I’ll work on the format here but I think this is a good start.
