Things I Thought Were Cool This Week – 7/9/2023 Edition
Hello again. Welcome to another addition of Things I Thought Were Cool This Week. Let’s get into it.
Threads
If you exist in the tech space you simply could not avoid the news around Meta launching their Twitter competitor, Threads. I already wrote a bit about it and why I’m not terribly excited. I’m actually not on it yet. However, I still think launching a product is cool. It seems like it has made some folks excited within Meta and I think that’s a good thing. I’m excited for them.
I think it’s important to recognize that a product may not be for us individually but that doesn’t mean it’s bad for others. So Threads may not be where I spend much time but it’s cool that it launched.
Dani met with a trainer
We decided to meet with a dog trainer for Dani. He’s a bit of a menace on his leash and he doesn’t seem to like other dogs…at all. What we learned from the trainer is not only is Dani very smart but he’s very confident. His poor leash behavior and barking at other dogs is a reaction to him not feeling confident so we (mainly myself) need to do a better job of just showing him confidence in stressful situations. He will take to that and behave much better.
I baby him too much. I know I do. However, even his walks since we worked with the trainer have been improvements and I’m so proud of him for that.
WWDC
Yeah I know WWDC was last month but I actually went back and watched the keynote this week. I haven’t watched a WWDC keynote in years as the recap articles are usually enough for me. Plus I was out of the Apple ecosystem for some time. Anyway, I went back to watch and was just struck by how great the presentation was. I think that keynote is probably a difficult target to hit for messaging. You have many eyes that aren’t just developers on it, but it’s the keynote for your developer conference so you need to highlight the features of SDKs. Anyway, I thought it was well put together and it can’t be easy. I thought that was cool.
Kind of short this week. I didn’t keep notes as I went so pulling from memory leads to a shorter blog. See ya on the internet.
